The American Southwest is a fantastic landscape. There is something strange and mystical about the Southwest desert. A vast and empty barren stretch of land continuing for miles and miles, devoid of any life, and that’s where the beauty lies. Unlike any guided photo tours, desert photography trips in the USA will help you see the world in a new light.
At American Photo Tours, we make it a point to take you through a journey, covering areas that you probably thought never existed before. Of course, the prime objective is to assist you in exploring and capture the grandeur of this majestic land in all its glory.
Expect the Best from Desert Photography Tours
Your adventure begins in St.George, Utah, and slowly moves east through Zion National Park. Then brief stopover at a little-known area, where you get an opportunity to photograph beautiful dunes and some of the white cliffs. From here, you will make your way to Lake Powell and stay the night in a well-appointed motel.
During the next two days, you will be crossing the colorful desert and meandering through locations that are only known to few explorers. For a change, you will be one of those fortunate photographers to have the distinction of capturing this ancient area comprising of volcanic ash and striated badlands and a mercurial lake that comes and goes with the seasons and rains. As the land is part of Navajo and Hopi reservations, you will see the tribal towns and shop at some Native American shops.
You will then continue towards Monument Valley and the famous mesas, buttes, and totems of the red desert. There are plenty of landmarks in this region that you will enjoy capturing with your camera.
In the next leg of your desert photography trip, you will find yourself in Eastern Arizona, traveling among the deep canyons of Navajo, using local guides and transportation. For a change, the streams and canyons, along with the numerous petroglyphs and ancient canyon dwellings, are somewhat unique, and you must experience them. In the end, you will be heading back to St. George by way of one or two of the best landscaped views that you might have seen in the entire trip.
